FPÖ Kickl/Hafenecker: A clear no to the budget rate for funding!

In view of its financial disaster, ORF should immediately disclose all expenses – compulsory fees should be abolished, not expanded by mandatory fees

Vienna (OTS) – A clear no to the currently discussed introduction of a domestic tax based on the German model for ORF funding came today from the chairman of the federal FPÖ party, Klubobmann NAbg. Herbert Kickl and media spokesman FPÖ NAbg. Christian Hafenecker, MA. “It is pure mockery to think of asking non-ORF consumers to pay 18 euros a month, as in Germany. Especially in times like these, when countless people no longer know how to survive financially due to record inflation and the complete failure of the black federal government – green, relief and no additional burden is needed. The mandatory ORF fees must therefore be abolished without replacement, as we Liberals have been demanding for years and not extended by a mandatory fee for families”, emphasized Kickl.

At the same time, the liberal chairman of the federal party asked the director general of the ORF, Weißmann, to immediately disclose all public broadcasting expenses in detail: “Despite a total annual turnover of around one billion euros, of which 676 million euros come from mandatory fees alone, ORF is apparently heading into a financial disaster. Therefore, maximum transparency towards the public and a breakdown of all expenses, from ongoing operating costs to personnel costs, including special contracts for services contractors and pensions, are needed immediately. Instead of demanding more money, the ORF must first ensure that the cash register fails!” Weißmann is really ready to resign as CEO for a long time, as he, as responsible for economic affairs together with his predecessor Wrabetz, brought A ORF as a company into this unfortunate financial situation.

FPÖ media spokesman NAbg described it as a “bottomless pit”. Christian Hafenecker, MA of ORF in its current situation. “The first step to fill the funding gap would be for ORF management to start saving for itself, for example on its 23 company cars. Overall, however, ORF will not be able to avoid a full-on reform towards a modern media company. This also includes ending mandatory GIS fees and thus reaching most European countries, in which such transmission fees simply do not exist – they have recently been abolished in Great Britain and France”, says Hafenecker.
