Firefighters were called early in the morning to respond to “smoke from a parked car” on the outskirts of the Alsatian city.
“After the detection of the first team, we suspect the crash of a stellar body,” writes Sdis du Bas-Rhin in its intervention report published at midday.
“Upon arrival we noticed a relatively large impact, about 50 centimeters in diameter, which penetrated the roof, underbody and fuel tank of the vehicle,” fire chief Matthieu told AFP. Colobert. Investigations concluded that no radioactivity was present.

“No items were found,” he continued. “Either the object was so small that it could not be found, or the impact was so large that the object disintegrated and turned into dust,” he proposed as hypotheses.
“We still suspect that about two centimeters wide gravel was found at the site,” he said. This gravel was handed over to the police for further analysis to determine its nature.
“It is an object the size of a hazelnut, which looks like burnt wood, very light,” a police spokesman told AFP. He announced that the object would be sent to a scientific police service in Paris.
“Is an object coming from space, that is the whole question,” said the police officer. “Even a ball thrown downhill at very high speed can cause damage. But we still need to prove that it is an object that came from space.”
