Free car thief wanted by police

Laval Police are asking the public for help in locating a man suspected of tracking down and then stealing multiple vehicles in 2021.

An arrest warrant has also been issued for 33-year-old suspect Kevin Lafontaine.

The man is wanted for a series of regulatory violations and the theft of about thirty vehicles totaling about $2 million, accompanied by alleged accomplices.

The target vehicles were mainly Jeep Grand Cherokees, Dodge Durangos, Dodge Rams and Ford series FM Lafontaine, as well as his four accomplices, who would have installed GPS trackers on the vehicles in order to later be able to steal them.

“[Ils] appeared in various shopping center car parks and targeted cars, where they installed beacons to then track them in their movements,” the Service de Police de la Ville de Laval (SPVL) said in a press release.

According to information gathered during the investigation, at least six robberies were allegedly committed in Laval, but several more took place in other Quebec and Ontario cities.

Kevin Lafontaine is 1.70 m tall and weighs 90 kg. He is a white male with brown hair and blue eyes. He speaks French.
