The little dancers of dance teacher Marie-Belle Lebeau presented the fruits of their labor on Friday to the residents of the CHSLD Cloutier-du Rivage, who were able to attend the show of around ten children on the theme of the Queen of Snow.
Thanks to the work and generosity of their teacher, who is also responsible for the beneficiary, they attend their dance classes completely free of charge. Since the time of inflation is putting a strain on parents’ wallets, she wanted to help them out.
“I came back in the fall with the desire to realize this project that I found so beautiful and that fits into my three passions: children, seniors and dance. I offered it completely free. Costumes, sets, exercises, the space, transport, etc.,” explained the founder of the project, who took care of finding several sponsors to achieve her goals.
And it works because 70 of them have registered.
“The fact that it interests all three together is really fun and the fact that it’s free allows them to do activities outside of school,” a parent volunteer added.
These are children from six communities who travel to Daveluyville one to three times a week.
“We have a beautiful large event hall there that we don’t use very often, so I told them, ‘Yes, we could give you the space for free,'” explained Crossroads of Generations of Greater Daveluyville General Director Johanne Roux.
There are around ten performances left in the region’s CHSLDs before the holidays. If the children are having fun, the same goes for the spectators.
“You would have to come back every week, but every week that is not possible. Honestly, it really changes ideas,” said Marielle Chaussée, a resident of CHSLD Cloutier-du Rivage.
The project brings together three generations: the children who dance, the elders who watch, and the parent volunteers who stand backstage but provide valuable supervision.
