“FC Bayern condemns the racist statements against Kingsley Coman in the strongest possible terms. The FC Bayern family has your back, King. Racism has no place in sport and in our society,” wrote the German club on its Twitter account.

The Bayern striker, second in goal for the Blues, was repelled by Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez in a 1-1 draw between the two teams in the fateful encounter, giving the Albiceleste a chance to take the lead.

The Blues, who had regained 2-2 in regular time and 3-3 after extra time, ended up losing 4-2 on penalties.

Midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni, whose shot went wide, and striker Randal Kolo Muani were also the victims of insults on social media after the French defeat.
