The creators of Friends, Marta Kauffman and David Crane, and the series’ executive producer, Kevin Bright, released this Sunday (29) a tribute to actor Matthew Perry, who died at the age of 54.

“We are shocked and deeply saddened by the death of our dear friend Matthew. It still seems impossible. “All we can say is that we feel blessed to have had him in our lives,” the trio wrote in a statement on the Deadline website.

Known and celebrated for his performance as Chandler in the comedy series, he was found dead at his home in Los Angeles, USA this Saturday (28).

“He was a brilliant talent. It’s a cliché to say that an actor makes a role their own, but in Matthew’s case there are no more accurate words. “From the day we first heard him in the role of Chandler Bing, there was no one else for us,” they explained.

“We will always cherish the joy, light and dazzling intelligence that he brought to every moment not only to his work but also to life. He was always the funniest person in the room. Furthermore, he was the sweeter, with a generous and altruistic heart.

“We send all our love to your family and friends. This is truly the one that has our hearts broken,” they concluded in reference to the series’ episode titles.
