Actress Melissa Barrera, who plays Samantha Carpenter in the franchise chillswas fired from the seventh episode after making controversial comments about the Israeli-Palestinian war.
“I also come from a colonized country. Palestine will be free. They tried to bury us, they didn’t know we were seeds,” the star said on her social networks last month.
Following this release, the production of Frissons VII, scheduled to hit theaters in 2025, decided to fire the actress.
“We do not tolerate anti-Semitism or incitement to hatred in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, distortion of the Holocaust or anything that crosses the line. “Hate speech will be blatantly restricted,” said Spyglass, the film’s production company Entertainment, according to the New York Post.
“Ultimately, I would rather be excluded for those I include than be included for those I excuse,” Barrera said.
For his part, the director of the film, Christopher Landon, wanted to point out that he did not make the decision to throw the young woman out.
