One mother shared a simple way of preparing fruit and vegetables to keep them fresher longer: soaking them in a mixture of cold water and a dash of white vinegar.
“When school started again, I thought I’d share my favorite way to prepare fresh fruits and vegetables to make life a little easier over the morning packed lunch,” she said in a Facebook group dedicated to meal prep dedicated.
The mum revealed that rising grocery bill prices have required her to get creative – and that her method saves her time and money.

“If I prep my fruits and veggies like this, they definitely last all week,” she said.
“We eat it within the week, so I only buy fresh produce for a week at a time.”
The mother begins by soaking her produce in a mixture of mostly cold water and a dash of white vinegar.
She then lets them soak for twenty minutes, gently stirring the water every few minutes.
Finally, she drains all the products and dries them with a kitchen towel.
“The key is to make sure the fruit is completely dry,” she said.
The mother then shared how she kept the fruit and vegetables to keep them from spoiling.
