BEIJING, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) — The following is the full text of the Joint Declaration between the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Colombia on Establishing a Strategic Partnership released in Beijing on Wednesday:
1. At the invitation of the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, the President of the Republic of Colombia, Gustavo Petro Urrego, paid a state visit to the People’s Republic of China between October 24 and 26, 2023.
2. During the visit, the two Heads of State held a cordial and friendly conversation and exchanged views on bilateral relations and international and regional issues of common interest, reaching a broad consensus. The Heads of State and Government positively assessed the development of bilateral relations between the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Colombia (hereinafter referred to as “both parties”) during the 43 years of diplomatic relations based on mutual respect and benefit on an equal basis; and agreed to elevate bilateral relations to the level of a strategic partnership.
3. Both parties reaffirmed mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as mutual understanding and support on issues related to their fundamental interests and concerns. The Government of Colombia reaffirmed its adherence to the One China principle and its recognition of the Government of the People’s Republic of China as the only legitimate government representing all of China and Taiwan as an inalienable part of Chinese territory. 4. Colombia and China share their concerns about the escalation of violence and the humanitarian situation in Palestine and Israel and reiterate their call on the parties to cease hostilities and put an end to actions affecting the civilian population. 5.
