Jessica Córe’s fashion shoot for Canal Extra

In fact, Jessica had to have strength in her life from a young age, as the Rio native moved to an orphanage in Flamengo, in Rio’s South Zone, as her biological mother did not have the financial resources to raise her. At the age of 5, she was adopted by lawyer Regina Córes, who gave her her last name, which serves as the inspiration for this fashion editorial.

— My mother is a brave woman. When she decided to adopt a child, her husband was against the adoption (he died three years after Jessica joined the family). I grew up alone with the help of my brother (Doctor Pedro), who is ten years older than me. “I never had a father figure,” says the artist, who still visits the orphanage where she lived as a child.

The actress describes the first time she saw her mother as a spiritual encounter. And he gets emotional remembering the moment he met Regina.

— Everyone wants to be loved by someone. My mother and I met in the orphanage and it was very nice. Nothing is a coincidence. I came to move the family and increase the energy. One Sunday she went to another child she saw in the photo, but I turned my back and played alone. When he came to talk to me, magic happened. Those waiting to adopt just want to breathe and have a corner. “Family is very important, especially for those who have nothing,” he says.

Although she has never had contact with the woman who gave birth to her again, Jessica still wants to know more about her origins.

— I wanted to know something about this other side: about my first name, where I come from. Who is this person who gave birth to me? Do you have a father? It has not? I really need to be able to talk about my childhood. Today I can’t because I don’t have (memory). I see my friends with memories and think: “My God, I will never be able to have that” reflects Jessica, the only black person in her family: “They are all white.” I feel very bad when I am with my mother and people outside make me look like I’m not a daughter. Since she’s blonde and has light eyes, they think I’m the maid. When I’m with my nephews, they think I’m the nanny. They even locked the door of a restaurant so I couldn’t enter. I wasn’t treated the same way as my mother and brother.

Despite the prejudice, the actress says she had a very different upbringing than many black people in Brazil and also had the experience of living outside the country:

— I had the privilege of being an educated person. But it’s one battle after another. I won’t be discouraged. We have to raise our heads because others will also come and point the finger.

For these and other reasons, Jessica planned to adopt a child in order to give opportunities to someone who is socially disadvantaged.

— I’ve been thinking about children since I was 14 years old. I really want to get pregnant, but it doesn’t make sense for me to have had this process in my life and not adopt. I want to become a mother and have a late child. “I think it is very important to bring back to life these lives that have been there (in the orphanage) for a long time,” emphasizes the actress, who in the soap suffered a miscarriage of the baby she had from Miguel (Nicolas Prattes). expected.

development as a woman

As a teenager, Jessica used her free time to play volleyball until she decided to pursue a career as a model at the age of 16. Then fashion transformed her into a different person.

— I felt like an ugly duckling. In fashion, I discovered that I was a beautiful girl. I thought I was an ugly woman because society told me so. I portrayed myself as the overlooked one. I discovered myself in the fashion world as a girl who could also fall in love, who could enchant others with her physique, her facial features… Until then, I had no selfconfidence. It was very important for me (this discovery), but before I had no connection to fashion, I was kitschy he emphasizes.

Initially, Jessica balanced her life as a model with fashion school, but dropped out to invest in her academic training, graphic design. Today it has become a hobby for her, prioritizing her acting career. In 2015, she had her first regular TV role as Lyris in Secret Truths. Two years later he traveled to Portugal, where he recorded the series “País Irmão”. Coincidentally, Olivia from the current seven o’clock soap opera also lives in Terrinha. In addition to traveling through Europe, Jessica went on an exchange in the United States, an experience that helped her grow as a woman.

— It is a great discovery for every person. I was there alone in this big world. I had never lived alone for so long. I didn’t go through BO, but I was alone. It was, so to speak, the moment I became a woman; a transition from adolescence to adulthood. “I returned to Rio much more responsible, much more conscious and also more disciplined,” says the Taurus woman, who doesn’t know whether Olivia will return to Brazil in the fiction in a more downtoearth way.

New love

The character in “Fuzuê” turned Nicolas Prattes’ protagonist’s world upside down. Miguel is in love with Luna, played by Giovana Cordeiro, and was surprised by his ex Olívia when he found out she was pregnant. For Jessica, everything is worth living in love.

— If the relationship works out, it’s really worth it. It’s not every time we find great love, a person who makes you feel wanted, someone you really love, someone you want to build something with. Olivia has stood up for Miguel and I don’t think she’s going to give up. Your persistence is a little similar to mine. But in my case, stubbornness is healthier because I didn’t have to force anyone to stay with me analyzes Jessica, who is just starting a relationship but doesn’t reveal the person’s name.

In the seven o’clock soap opera, Olívia recently returned to Portugal after suffering a miscarriage. The character’s interpreter has never experienced anything like this in real life, but she is in favor of women deciding for themselves what they do with their bodies.

— There are cases of rape. How are they supposed to have these children? I think everyone is responsible for themselves. I don’t like going against it. It is an important decision for a woman. There are many issues that we need to talk about and prioritize. “The issue of abortion cannot depend on a society but on the woman,” he says.
