Samsung has introduced its new Exynos 2400 chip. According to rumors, it will soon be at the heart of the Galaxy S24. So the stakes are very high as it has to compete with the Apple A17 Pro and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

After an extraordinary year for the Galaxy S23 Ultra, in which Samsung relied entirely on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 to equip its flagship, the company wants to try again to develop its own chips. Here is the Exynos 2400, which we should find in the Galaxy S24 in a few months. Goal: Compete with both the Apple A17 Pro of the iPhone 15 Pro and the future Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 that will be found in all Android flagships.
14 times more AI
The first of the Exynos 2400’s new features is its AMD RDNA 3 graphics chipthe latest architecture used on the Radeon RX 7000. According to Samsung, the performance gain will be “significant” and will enable gaming with ray tracing effects.
Samsung also promises a profit of 70% CPU performance and treatment of AI-related tasks 14x faster. The company particularly wants to offer generative AI directly on the smartphone, without going through the cloud. We could imagine an application similar to ChatGPT that no longer requires internet access.
Satellite connection
Like Apple and Qualcomm, the Exynos 2400 will integrate a modem that can communicate with low-orbit satellites. There is talk of enabling communication via text, but also via video.
Samsung has not yet revealed the characteristics of the individual parts of its Exynos 2400 in detail. An SoC in 2023 is becoming more and more complex and each part can allow the smartphone to integrate more and more advanced features. We can continue to note the integration of Samsung Zoom Anyplace, which should improve Management of 200 megapixel photo sensors.
In any case, you’ll have to wait until you get your hands on a Galaxy S24 to get a real taste of this Exynos 2400’s performance. In 2022, the Exynos 2200 rather disappointed us. However, Qualcomm really needs competition in its industry. Let’s hope that this strategic decision by Samsung will be the right one.
