OnePlus has already confirmed that its first foldable device will launch in the third quarter of this year, and new reports have now clarified the release window: the smartphone will appear as early as next month.
After renderings or even leaks of the technical data sheet, the release of the first foldable smartphone from OnePlus is imminent. That’s what the famous leaker Max Jambor claims OnePlus’ first foldable phone will launch on August 29th. An event to celebrate the launch is expected to take place in New York, which could point to a worldwide release.
Thanks to Jambor, we know that too OnePlus intends to call its next device OnePlus Open. So far, it was assumed that the smartphone would be named OnePlus V Fold, following the naming conventions for similar devices.
What do we know about OnePlus Open?
In terms of specs, the OnePlus Open shouldn’t disappoint. It would be equipped with one 8-inch QHD+ 120Hz foldable main display and an external 6.5-inch FHD+ 120 Hz display. Internally, consumers can count on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and a 4,800mAh battery with 80W fast chargenever seen before on a foldable smartphone.
On the back, the OnePlus Open uses a triple camera configuration with a 50 MP main sensor, a 48 MP ultra wide-angle sensor and a 64 MP telephoto lens with triple optical zoom. The photo part should therefore be quite versatile, as is the case with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5.
unfortunately, It’s not really known if the OnePlus Fold will arrive in Europe. As you may already know, OPPO and OnePlus have decided to leave France already this year, so there will probably not be any more smartphone launches here. Should it still reach us, we assume that it will cause many problems for the Galaxy Z Fold 5, which is to be expected a rather tentative update to the predecessor. As a reminder, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 will be unveiled by Samsung alongside many other products at an Unpacked conference on July 26th.
