Gaming: PD32M, a premium Porsche x AGON by AOC screen

Porsche Design and AGON by AOC announce the availability of their new gaming monitor, the result of the partnership between the two brands. Thus, the PD32M enjoys high-end performances such as 4K, 144 Hz or even Display HDR 1400. It is sold for 1999 euros on the official website of Porsche Design and partner distributors and benefits from a diagonal of 80 cm/31.5′ and a response time of 1 ms GtG (manufacturer information).

“Porsche Design has been our partner for a long time and we’ve once again created an iconic performance-focused gaming monitor that combines the best of both worlds. The PD32M is a true paragon of versatility and incorporates features and functions that give it real potential to entice experienced and ambitious gamers, but also content creators, so that they can improve their performance and productivity,” says Stefan Sommer, Global Head of Marketing at TPV.

“Our ultimate goal was to develop a top-class monitor that combines sophisticated design with the latest technology. The collaboration between Porsche Design and AGON by AOC resulted in the PD27 in 2020, a first QHD gaming monitor in 240 Hz, whose base is reminiscent of the roll bar of Porsche racing cars. With this second generation of gaming monitors, we’ve taken the racing-inspired design even further. For example, it takes up design elements that are based on the steering wheel and wheel rims of a sports car,” says Roland Heiler, Chief Design Officer at Porsche Design.

Porsche PD32M: automotive inspiration

Functional design inspired by sports cars
The functional aspect of the PD32M’s base determines its shape. Rigidity and solidity are two essential elements in the gaming sector; These characteristics therefore apply in all subtlety to the monitor’s frame and its sandblasted aluminum base. The compactness of a display is just as important, which is why the design of the housing follows the functional arrangement of the internal components. The whole results in a harmonious rear that seems to emerge from the panel itself to enclose the boxes of the internal components. Independent cavities are visible to guide the user to the various ports. And to better gauge the thinness of the slab, the back of the case is slightly beveled at the outer edges, creating a trapezoidal shape that’s matched with mesh inlays for cooling and speakers. The whole thing is indirectly backlit by RGB to maintain full immersion and optimize the gaming experience while allowing dynamics to roam free. Some subtle details have been added, such as B. a horizontal, backlit cooling groove, which is also inspired by the air cooling of racing cars. The branding of the product is also represented in a characteristic way by an interchangeable projected logo.
