Garmin has introduced two new products with very different purposes.
The Garmin Instinct 2X Smartwatch is huge, durable and available in many different colors. Meanwhile, the Garmin Drive 53 is the latest addition to the company’s acclaimed Garmin Drive product line, offering simple and streamlined navigation solutions. Both products can now be ordered worldwide.
The Garmin Instinct 2X Solar is the latest edition to the Garmin Instinct S smartwatch family. The Garmin Instinct 2X Solar and Instinct 2X Solar Tactical Edition are designed to conquer the elements. They offer an easy-to-read display in a 50mm fiber-reinforced polymer body.
Built to US military standards (MIL-STD-810) for thermal cycling, water resistance and shock resistance, the new smartwatches feature a chemically strengthened, scratch-resistant Power Glass lens. Designed to extend battery life, it produces 50% more power than the Instinct 2 solar watch. Regardless, battery life is unlimited when the wearable device is in smartwatch mode. Of course, this assumes you’re wearing all day, three hours a day outdoors in 50,000 lux conditions.
A built-in multi-LED flashlight offers variable intensities and a flash that matches your running frequency. The watch also includes a red security light pattern to help you monitor the nighttime environment.
Like many of Garmin’s other smartwatches, the Instinct 2X Solar has numerous tools focused on fitness, wellness and lifestyle. These include 24/7 health and wellness tracking, wrist-based heart rate monitoring, and an advanced sleep monitor. In addition, breath tracking, Pulse Ox and other health assessment features are included.
The Garmin Instinct 2X Solar also offers access to sports apps for running, cycling, strength training, swimming and more. According to Dan Bartel, Garmin’s vice president of global sales, “Our newest member of the Instinct 2 series is a bold GPS smartwatch that’s purpose-built to help you navigate challenging conditions, yet is adaptable enough to… To help you continue your journey – be everyday. Goals.”
The Instinct 2X Solar is available now and costs $449.99, while the Instinct 2X Solar Tactical Edition costs $499.99.
There is also the Garmin Drive 53 navigation solution. It has a modern design and offers a 5-inch, bright glass touchscreen with a resolution of 800 x 800. On this screen you will find a simple and slim navigation solution. Perhaps even better, you’ll always know when there are sharp turns, speed changes, school zones and more during your ride. In addition, you can purchase a Garmin Drive 53 with or without traffic reports.

Bartel explains, “Our Garmin Drive 53 satellite navigation system offers a modern, premium aesthetic combined with our core navigation features to help riders get where they need to be. Whether driving cross-country with family or commuting daily in your own city, drivers will appreciate the beautiful display and easy navigation.
The Garmin Drive 53 starts at a suggested retail price of $149.99.
