The helicopter carrying her landed at the Sheba Medical Center in Ramat Gan, near Tel Aviv. Some Israeli soldiers were waiting for them along the route. She is free again and hugs her mother again Maya Sham, the twenty-year-old French-Israeli girl, was taken hostage by Hamas on October 7 as she returned home to Sderot after a night of partying. He was one of the first to appear via video and appeal to Netanyahu’s government to demand her release after she underwent arm surgery at a Gaza hospital. France had also mobilized for them and now Macron is also celebrating: “Their liberation is a joy for all French people.”
Maya Sham is one of two Israeli hostages handed over to the Red Cross on November 30 and then to special forces and members of Israel’s Shin Bet security service in the northern Gaza Strip near the border. Amit Soussana, 40, was also with the 21-year-old French-Israeli. The two were taken to Hatzerim air base in southern Israel to return to Tel Aviv.
Maya Sham appeared in a video released by Hamas last month after her capture, showing her injured arm and asking to be returned to her family as quickly as possible. Even her mother, happy to see her alive again despite her great pain, strongly demanded her release.
“Maya Sham is free. I share this great joy with her family and with the entire French people,” wrote French President Emmanuel Macron in a post on the social network. “I would also like to express my solidarity with all those who remain hostages of Hamas,” Macron added, “France is working with its partners to ensure their release as quickly as possible.”
