The 31 premature babies who remained at Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza after Saturday’s evacuation left the facility, Gaza Hospitals Director General Mohamed Zaqut told AFP on Sunday.
“Three doctors and two nurses are accompanying” the babies and “preparations are underway for their evacuation to Egypt” through the Rafah border crossing, he said. Rafah is the only border post not controlled by Israel and is at war with the Islamist Hamas movement, which has ruled the Palestinian territory since 2007.
