Gen Z takes almost no precautions and prefers to rely on inheritance

Even though retirement is still many years away, Gen Z is still aware of the importance of retirement provision. However, only a fifth of respondents aged between 16 and 27 are already planning their own retirement, according to a study commissioned by Uniqa Insurance. This is significantly lower than for the elderly. Most Gen Z people who don’t take precautions say they still have enough time to do so or that they currently have very little money. Nearly one in five young adults in this generation also depends on whether they inherit enough wealth later or earn a good salary. Is this a complacent or realistic assessment, taking into account demographic evolution?
