General Gerasimov, the grandson found buried with his soldiers in Kharkiv

The body of Lieutenant Vitaly Gerasimov, grandson of the most famous Russian general and chief of staff Valery Gerasimov, was found. The body was buried along with 5 other Soviet soldiers by Kharkiv residents as a show of sympathy, but Ukrainian police exhumed the bodies.

The head of the investigative department of the Kharkiv region police, Serhiy Bolvinov, said on Facebook: “We have received reports of graves that have been found on several streets, which are marked with self-made wooden crosses,” Bolvinov explains on Facebook and also posts some photos the hill of earth with wooden crosses on it. We had to dig these graves to identify and transfer the bodies according to international procedures. The Russians have no interest in taking their own dead with them.”

Colonel Vitaly Gerasimov was killed in action in early March, days after the Russian invasion of Ukraine began. He took part in the second war in Chechnya and in the military operation in Syria. For the Crimean War in 2014 he received a medal.

Valery Gerasimov was also injured on the pitch in mid-April. However, his health is mysterious. He was never seen again and was absent from the May 9 Victory Day Parade in Moscow’s Red Square, but a few days ago he is said to have had a phone conversation with Chief of Defense Staff Mark Milley.
