Burton made headlines last fall after parting ways with General Hospital over his refusal to do the COVID-19 shots.

“I wanted you to hear it from me personally,” Burton said on Instagram. “Unfortunately, the General Hospital let me go because of the vaccination order. I applied for my medical and religious exemptions and both were denied. which, you know, hurts. But it’s also about personal freedom for me.”

The two-time Daytime Emmy winner added, “I don’t think anyone should lose their livelihood over this.”

Burton said he would always be grateful for that [his] time in general hospital. I love it there, I grew up there…so I’ll always be grateful.”

The veteran soap star also starred in The Young and the Restless from 2013 to 2017, as well as the 2007 spin-off General Hospital: Night Shift.
