The P&C insurance industry in Quebec will be looking for 10,000 candidates to hire over the next three years and vacancies can be found throughout Quebec.
“These are big, big needs. Desperate needs, indeed. Hiring 10,000 over three years is the renewal of a third of the workforce in the industry,” said Roxanne Hébert, executive director of the Coalition for a Succession in Damage Insurance.

The aging of the population largely explains the current and future needs in this also growing branch of the economy.
Nine out of ten non-life employers have struggled with hiring for several months.
To aid in their recruitment efforts, the Coalition is launching a work-study program.
Interested parties can register for the first year, which begins in March, by March 3rd. Additional cohorts begin in May and September, then in early 2024.
The CEGEPs Édouard-Montpetit, Drummondville, Lévis and Outaouais offer online training and around forty companies will welcome participants for the working part.
We hope to attract candidates for professional reorientation.
Good working conditions
Pay during the apprenticeship could be about $25 an hour, as a government grant to the coalition allows that amount to be reimbursed to the employer.
“In general, the industry then offers good working conditions, but also social benefits and the possibility of teleworking. Above all, it is at the forefront of ensuring the protection of Quebecers’ heritage. It is an important and rewarding role,” says Ms. Hébert.
The three most in-demand jobs are property insurance agents and brokers, and claims adjusters. A college degree in actuarial engineering and financial services or a university degree (actuarial science, risk management) can lead to careers in general insurance. Compensation ranges from $46,550 to $78,000 per year.
Brokerage firms are currently the ones with the greatest need for hiring.
