Even George Clooney had his moment #me too. In an interview with the Washington Post on the occasion of the Kennedy Center Honors, the Kennedy Awards presented each year in the United States to those who have distinguished themselves for their contribution to the arts and culture, the 61-year-old actor revealed that he was victim of sexual objectification early in his career.
“Honestly,” he explained, “I became objectified. I remember during scenes from “Roseanne” (“Pappa e ciccia,” a sitcom that aired from 1988 to 1998) they would slap me when I reached down to pick up a clipboard butt. You have to make yourself count for something more…”. The turning point with “Good night and good luck‘: The 2005 film was Clooney’s second directorial effort and won the Osella Award for Best Screenplay and the Volpi Cup for Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival. He was also nominated for six Oscars.
In the interview, Clooney also spoke about his future in cinema, saying he’d rather pass more time with his wife Amal and children, the twins Ella and Alexander, 5 years old until he is old enough for it. “Amal and I had long conversations about my age. I said, ‘You know, I’m 61, I can still do a lot of things that I used to do, but in 20 years I’ll be 81 and things will be different… Those are good years, the next 20 or 25 Years… Let’s make sure we live differently.” “That means – he added – I won’t be directing unless it’s something I absolutely have to do. ACasting film roles is an easy job, much easier and I get to spend a lot more time with my family.”
