George Clooney is selling his iconic 100 million Lake Como

George Clooney is “selling his iconic $100 million Lake Como mansion,” which he has owned for more than two decades

George Clooney is reportedly saying goodbye to his Lake Como home after owning it for 21 years.

According to Italian magazine Oggie, the 62-year-old actor has listed the villa with an agency in Milan, Italy.

Previous reports falsely claimed the Hollywood icon was selling the home, but real estate agent Yasemin Baysal assured the publication that “this time it’s true,” People reported.

An Italian source also told the outlet that the news of the sale was legitimate.

The price of the lake property is estimated to be up to $100 million.

The person familiar with the situation noted: “It has to be said that he is not only a very good actor and investor, but also an extremely smart investor, considering that he bought the villa for 10 million euros.”

Clooney is said to have purchased the home, called Villa Oleandra, from the Heinz family in 2002 via The Washington Post.

It was also reported that the filmmaker’s presence on Lake Como sparked a real estate boom, causing property prices in the area to double.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Clooney subsequently purchased a nearby home, making it “one of the largest private homes in the area.”

The home, which has 25 rooms, was valued at over $100 million in 2022, WSJ added.

Lake Como has sentimental value for the Hollywood heartthrob as he met his now-wife Amal Clooney there in 2013 when she dropped by for a dinner party with mutual friends.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in September 2017, the actor recalled, “I thought she was beautiful, and I thought she was funny and obviously smart.”

And last month the couple were back in Italy as they traveled to the famous Venice Film Festival.

The historic house has seen many celebrities from the entertainment industry.

In 2004, the cast of Ocean’s Twelve was invited to visit the villa, People reported.

Emily Blunt and John Krasinski tied the knot there in 2010, and Krasinski told Elle how it happened six years later.

The Boston-born actor revealed that George had offered the house to the couple several times.

“It wasn’t until the fourth question that I said yes.” Because the first three times I thought he was definitely not serious,” he explained.

In 2018, Jennifer Aniston briefly settled there while working on the comedy “Murder Mystery.”

And Clooney was there two years ago to support the area when it was hit by heavy rains and landslides over the summer.

After assessing the damage, George said in a video posted online: “It’s a lot worse than I thought.” I’ve spoken to the mayor – there’s going to be a lot of work, it’s going to cost millions of dollars, but this city is strong. It will respond and return better than before. “This is a very resilient city.”

Mayor Roberto Pozzi told the Sunday Times that Clooney “came straight to City Hall to see what had happened and we took a tour of the damage.”

In 2019, George raised funds with Omaze through a competition where a couple could meet him and Amal at the villa.

Donations went to the Clooney Foundation for Justice and the winners received lunch with George and Amal, round-trip airfare and hotel accommodations.

In addition to their Lake Como home, the Clooneys – who share six-year-old twins Ella and Alexander – have residences in France, the United Kingdom and Los Angeles.
