Georgia wide receiver Rara Thomas arrest details emerge – 247Sports

Details of the incident that led to Georgia wide receiver have emerged RaRa Thomas‘ Arrested early Monday morning.

Two officers were dispatched to McWhorter Hall at 11:58 p.m. Sunday night over a possible verbal altercation, according to the UGA Police report to Dawgs247. One of the officers contacted a UGA employee, who informed the officer that a loud argument emanated from one of the rooms and spilled into the hallway before those involved in the argument returned to the room.

An officer knocked on the door, whereupon Thomas’ 17-year-old acquaintance – whose name Dawgs247 prefers not to reveal – answered the door. She told the officer there was a verbal argument that resolved itself. The officer demanded “to see all parties to the dispute,” after which the woman caught Thomas, who the report identifies as the woman’s boyfriend. One officer spoke to Thomas while the other officer spoke to the woman in question.

The woman explained that she and Thomas “got into a verbal argument when Thomas got upset that she was following an unidentified man on Instagram.” She left McWhorter Hall after the verbal argument and went to the gym. While she was at the gym, the argument continued via text messages. She returned to the room to talk to Thomas about the problem. That’s when they “started arguing and yelling,” according to the report.

At this point in the interview, the woman overheard Thomas telling one of the officers that she had hit Thomas. At that point, the woman told the other officer that Thomas asked her not to “tell anyone about the bruises he gave her.” According to the report, the officer recorded this information in order to revisit her and urged the woman to proceed with her order of events.

At that point, the woman told Thomas that she wanted to leave after the argument started, but “Thomas stood in the dormitory doorway, blocking her exit and stating that she could not leave,” the report reads. She said she told Thomas she wanted to call her mother, whereupon “Thomas grabbed it [the female’s] phone and her Apple Watch off her wrist so she couldn’t call her mom.”

The woman told the officer the argument became physical after Thomas took her phone and “he grabbed her right arm with his left hand and left a bruise on her bicep where his thumb was.” She told the officer she started scratching, kicking and hitting Thomas to get him off of me, which resulted in her breaking a nail. She also said Thomas “pushed her, causing her to fall face first into the bed, leaving bruises and abrasions on her shin”.

The report says Thomas pushed her again as she tried to get back up, forcing her to fall onto the bed on her back – leaving a scrape on the side of her left leg. The woman then showed the officer the bruises on her arm and the bruises and abrasions on her legs.

The two officers then shared what each had told them. Thomas “said they had an argument, but it didn’t get physical until she started ‘choking’ and hitting him,” the report reads. Thomas also claimed the woman would not let Thomas go and “she punched and kicked him”.

Thomas also told officers that the woman broke his laptop by flipping it backwards, causing the screen to detach from the keyboard. Thomas told officers that “he gently laid her on the bed while she hit him” and that he advised her to perch on the bed while he sat in a chair and called a friend.

The officer who wrote the report stated, “I have not found any injuries to Thomas’ body consistent with what Thomas said. I’ve seen bruises on Thomas’ forearms, but he said he sustained the injuries during a sporting event.”

Going back to the original order of events, the account explained that Thomas left the dormitory with the woman’s phone and watch, after which she followed him. The couple then encountered a group of girls in the hallway who “started asking questions about the rowdy altercation.” The couple then returned to the room, fearing the police might be called.

One of the officers took Thomas to a study and asked him to write a testimony, after which the other officer received a statement from the woman detailing her testimony. At that point, two other officers arrived at the scene.

Arriving officers read both statements and then again questioned Thomas and the woman separately. One of the officers who were initially on site photographed the woman’s injuries and the broken laptop.

At that point, two of the officers determined that “there are sufficient probable causes to charge Thomas with OCGA 16-5-23.1(2): Battery – Family Violence – 1st Offense and OCGA 16-5-41: False Inprisonment.” Thomas was then arrested at 3am
