No pain, no “plane”.

Gerard Butler accidentally rubbed phosphoric acid into his eyes while filming his upcoming action film Plane and said the experience felt like he was “burning alive”.

The 53-year-old made the revelation during an appearance on “Late Night With Seth Meyers” on Wednesday and said the accident happened while he was trying to fix a malfunctioning plane on set.

“Now I put my hand between those two wheels and pretend I know what I’m doing,” Butler recalled. “Every time I get my hands out, they’re covered in blood and green liquid, right? And I say, ‘I don’t know what this green liquid is.’ “

“I rub my face and suddenly it’s in my throat. it’s in my mouth It’s in my nose. It’s in my eyes,” he continued. “It burns my face, and I mean it burns.”

After the film crew realized the green liquid was phosphoric acid, there was an uproar over how best to remove the substance from Butler’s body.

Some suggested the star washes his face, while others said doing so would only make it worse.

According to the CDC website, the affected person should wash their face immediately and seek medical help.

“I’m just burning alive… So it was intense. It actually burned for hours,” Butler said, without revealing how he finally removed the acid.

The action hero has since fully recovered and joked that the incident was “great for the sequence” they were filming.

“Anything for work!” quipped the Scotland star, prompting Meyers to burst into a fit of laughter.
