German minister Lauterbach accuses Drosten of making big mistakes

Karl Lauterbach washed his hands in innocence on the ARD morning show: Advisory scientists recommended school closures to the German government. Often, however, the level of knowledge was not very good.

With this statement, the SPD Minister of Health attacks above all the Chief virologist Christian Drosten. In the past, the Berlin Charité professor has repeatedly insisted on strengthening protection against infections in Germany. During the corona pandemic, he also held an advisory role in the federal government.

Christian Drosten: Politics is responsible

Compared to the weekly Die Zeit, however, the virologist denied any guilt of being responsible for the closure of schools. In contrast to Lauterbach, he sees responsibility in politics.

The current Minister of Health also has other shortcomings to report: For example, very expensive corona tests or irregularities in the purchase of masks. “These are things that should never have happened”, emphasized the doctor, who was still acting as a health politician on the SPD parliamentary bench at the beginning of the pandemic, about three years ago.
