After finding a body stuck upside down in a manhole, police in Germany arrested a 40-year-old suspect the same day.
The man was found in the apartment of the 46-year-old man who was killed, Cologne police and public prosecutors announced on Sunday. Investigators assume that the apartment near where the body was found is also the crime scene.
Initially nothing was known about the background of the crime. According to the information, the alleged aggressor is German, the victim Spanish.
Bystander discovered dead body near Cologne: murder commission determined
A passer-by discovered the body on Sunday morning on a country road in Niederkassel, not far from Cologne’s city limits. An emergency doctor could only determine the man’s death. The body was covered in cracks, police said. A disk chest was found nearby, which may have been used to lead the division to the shaft. A homicide detective is investigating.
