The German media is going crazy in the truest sense of the word: According to the latest political surveys by the Forsa society, the identity party with the very radical alternative for Germany, AfD, has gained so much popularity among the population that it joins the Social Democrats with the SPD as second German party. Now, after months of growth, the AfD has joined the Social Democrats as the second party. In addition, the Greens have plummeted to third place. The CDU is growing, but much less than expected. The Liberals are eliminated, but remain in Parliament and exceed the 5% hurdle, which the de Linke-Linke again achieves.
It seems clear that the “Semaforo” government of Greens, Liberals and Social Democrats does not please the Germans. It will satisfy the media but not the populace suffering from mounting inflation and increasingly urgent and ever less appreciated immigration. The most recent elections in the federal states have already shown that these figures are not just polls, but reality. And not only that: where the AfD did not appear, other sovereign parties prevailed.
Now the mutual accusations between the various parties of the so-called German “constitutional sheet” begin. While the left calls for war against the AfD, Merz’s CDU also says she has no intention of dealing with the identity party. With this reasoning, the sovereigns will continue to appear as the only opposition and will further strengthen their position. In six months they risk being at the level of the CDU itself…
