On other occasions, crying was also an expression of Eduin Cuaz. One of the reasons his feelings take over is the memory of his friend Giovani who was kidnapped and murdered.

In other interviews he has commented that “Neither Money Northing” is a song that reminds him of himself.

Mexican music has freed itself from many prejudices

Jhonny Caz, one of the voices of Grupo Firme, laughs and raises his hands to his head when asked what the key to the worldwide success of regional Mexican music is, which has put some songs of this genre on the list of the most listened to songs in the world.

While he’d like to know the full “recipe” behind the genre’s triumph, Caz is clear on one thing: “Mexican music has broken free from a lot of prejudices and that’s also something that’s helping it reach the tastes of more people.”

The third vocal band of this band from Tijuana, a city on the US border with Mexico, sees itself as one of the examples of this dismantling of prejudice and reminds how the regional Mexican used to be classified as “a macho genre and only for men” and how the LGTBI community today also has its place between accordions, trombones and tubas.

“Making music and showing that people’s affection applies regardless of their sexual orientation or lifestyle is one of the biggest prejudices that has been overcome in the Mexican region,” Caz said in an interview with EFE.

Likewise, and from the pride that results from the positioning of this music, which comes from “the roots” of his beloved Mexico, the artist recalls that along the way there was a whole “team of many generations” who “had to open doors”.

The “perfect dumbbell”

Under the motto “You have to connect it”, songs like “Qué onda perdida” or “Ya supérame” conquer the stages of Latin America on the first tour of this group, which can look back on more than a decade of experience.

Although not spared some setbacks from rain and earthquakes, the group’s concerts will end on August 5 at the “Flower Fair Super Concert” in the Colombian city of Medellín.

For this “party” in the form of a concert lasting several hours together with other artists such as the Puerto Rican salsa singer Gilberto Santa Rosa or the paisa reggaeton player Ryan Castro, Grupo Firme returns to the country after participating in Maluma’s concert “Medallo en el Mapa” last year.

“We have already done several collaborations with Colombian artists. People love this Mexico Colombia dumbbell because Colombians have a passion for emotions, for music and also for partying. “We are the perfect dumbbell,” affirmed the singer, after defining the Colombian listeners as one of his “main consumers”.

Convinced that Grupo Firme’s music “makes you feel like you’re the most in love person in the world”, invites you to dance” and even helps bring out “courage and lovesickness”, Caz announced that they will soon be releasing original songs and new collaborations around the world, including with a Colombian artist with whom they will join their voices for the first time.
