The artist, who over the years has earned the reputation of the “cursed poet” and the nickname “Joker” (owing to him the song of the same name on the album “Campi di popcorn”), has received numerous awards. But his success had to deal with a heavy blow.
An unexpected descent
In recent months, the singer appeared on the stage of Sanremo, where he participated as a guest, in a performance together with Irama. The two sang “My Story Between Your Fingers” and brought to life a very interesting cover from a harmonic point of view.
It had been several years since Grignani had performed at the country’s most famous event. The artist has spent a lot of time away from the limelightrefused to take part in various demonstrations and was somewhat shy and sullen towards the media and fans.
He endured a severe crisis that no one would have expected after the popularity he experienced in the early years of his career. The singer made his debut in 1995 with the album “Destinazione Paradiso” and immediately conquered many listeners – and especially female listeners – who were totally fascinated by his music and his image.
Everything changed with the release of the next album, “The Plastic Factory”. Grignani’s intention at the time was to “destroy the system,” as he himself later stated in an interview with Esquire.
“The record companies said I was crazy to do a job like that. But I felt like a revolutionary, a rebel,” explains the singer, who had a difficult relationship with his label in those years.
In his album, he expressed all his uneasiness. Unfortunately, the disc turned out to be a flop and Grignani himself felt “excluded, devoured” in the end. He didn’t get the support he was hoping for: “I just had to lose on a project like this. And actually I lost everything,” he said in an interview.
The singer’s recovery
During these complicated years, the artist refused to participate in Sanremo, as well as other exhibitions, and withdrew from the scene, reducing his appearances to a minimum. There was no shortage of scandals, which repeatedly brought him to the center of the news.

After some time Grignani returned. Most recently he released the singles “I at Moments” and “A Long Goodbye”. Also, to celebrate The Plastic Factory’s 25th anniversary, he decided to re-release his much-discussed album on vinyl.
In the last weeks his participation in Sanremo as a competitor was announced, after 8 years since the last time. The artist will perform the song “When you lack your breath”.
