Gianni Infantino congratulated the “U” on winning the Women’s League title after defeating Alianza Lima

University of Sports clinched the Women’s League title this 2023 season after defeating its classic rival Lima Alliance with a comeback in the Monumental Stadium. With this championship, the Lionesses increased their record and achieved 10 titles in the competition. In addition, they prevented the Familiars from reaching the three-time national championship.

After a few weeks, the International Football Association (FIFA) got in touch Gianni Infantino, congratulated the “U” on winning the title and highlighted the work of the entire club to become champions. The letter was sent to the president of the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF). Agustin Lozano.

The head of the highest football association, Gianni Infantino, also took advantage of the opportunity Highlighting the association’s work for “its contribution to development” of women’s football.

“On behalf of the entire football community, I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you and your association for your contribution to the development and prosperity of women’s football both in Peru and in South America,” the letter concludes.

After winning the title this season, Universitario will be the only Peruvian team to represent Peru in the next edition of the Copa Libertadores Femenina.
