Giant: Kröt"zilla" weighs as much as a human baby

A monstrous cane toad has been spotted in Conway National Park, Australia. At 2.7 kilograms, the giant toad weighs as much as a newborn baby.

The 25 cm long, 2.7 kg specimen really deserves the name “Toadzilla” (Kröt-Zilla). After all, the frog weighs as much as a newborn human baby and even eats mice and other reptiles. Australian researchers were stunned when they discovered the warty colossus in Conway National Park.

INFORMATION BOX

Although cane toads actually belong to the giant toads, they have so far been discovered to have a maximum length of 22 centimeters. As they have almost no predators as adults, they live between 10 and 15 years in the wild and have a very large distribution area.

The cane toad was first introduced to Australia in the first half of the 20th century and is native to the American continent.

At first they wanted to behave much more politely with the frog and even named him the suggestive name “Connie” because he was found in the CONway National Park. However, the giant specimen couldn’t stay where it is, as cane toads are venomous reptiles that can do extreme damage at such a size. The impact on other mammals and reptiles would be too great, which is why “Toadzilla” was also euthanized.
