Giants youth wisely fuel offensive boost in win over Brewers – NBC Sports

The influx of young people has helped a mediocre Giants team that is now in full swing.

Before infielder Casey Schmitt made his debut with the club on May 9, the Giants were 15-19 years old and looking for a spark. Since then, San Francisco (26-25) is 11-6 and surpassed .500 for the first time all season after a 15-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday at American Family Field.

The Giants scored 19 total goals, nine of which came from rookies Schmitt (2), Patrick Bailey (4), Brett Wisely (2) and Bryce Johnson (1).

Bailey delivered the most impressive performance on Friday night, going to the plate with three RBIs 4-of-5, but perhaps the most important performance came from Wisely, who prevailed with a 2-of-5 while also hitting his second major league win at home and that Accumulate three RBI.

The 24-year-old infielder has shone defensively this season but has struggled with the racquet. His big night was the culmination of hard work behind the scenes.

“I got the heater. I had a pretty long shot, spat on a good two-shot curveball there,” Wisely said, breaking down his third-inning home run with Laura Britt, Carlos Ramirez and Rich Aurilia on Giants Postgame Live.” “I just went after I looked for something and made a good swing at it and the ball flew towards me.”

“I feel good, I’ve worked a lot in the cage [Giants hitting coach Justin Viele] My swing feels pretty good. I just put together some good bats.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Giants manager Gabe Kapler praised Wisely for his performance and explained why he’s considered a good hitter in the majors.

“I was particularly happy about a couple of big Wisely racquets,” said Kapler. “Of course, there’s a lot to get excited about on the home run with three runs and the line drive double in the opposite direction.”

“The racquet speed is totally intact, even if he swings and misses you can see the racquet whistling through the zone. If you watch him practice batting, it’s a good, clean, short swing and he can put the ball into opponent’s court.” We saw tonight that he can put it on the pull side. There’s a lot of tooling to dream of, he’s only a few slap shots above Double-A, including his major league slap shots, and there’s a lot of cap so we’re here for Brett Wisely and want as much of that as we can see him.

Despite the continued success of two of the Giants’ top candidates Friday night, Wisely stole the show in the Giants’ eyes.

And if he continues to find success, he could have a permanent role for the remainder of the season.
