Gilberto Gil coopted the tour “Nós, A Gente” just before the start of the first show in Brazil syringes about her daughter Preta Gil’s return to the stage after colon cancer treatment.
“It’s nice to be back home with the boys and with Preta. She takes care of herself, she is strong, active and sings. She even joked, ‘I can still sing’. She will sing for us today.”
But Gil reiterates his daughter’s health still requires attention.
“It’s still about time she thinks about selfmedicating, her career comes later. We have the slightest faith that she will recover and come back healthy.”
The tour, which has already toured several European cities, brings together three generations of the Gil family in a show that brings together the great achievements of the patriarch.

The Brazilian leg passes through Rio today, tomorrow and Sunday and then goes to São Paulo, Belo Horizonte and Salvador. It is sponsored by Natura.
“We have been touring Europe with the whole family and we will now tour some cities in Brazil before returning to Europe and completing the European tour which last year failed to visit all the cities we wanted,” he concluded .
The show
On stage, Gil was the show’s great host. Between one song and another, he introduced his children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren and invited them to play or sing near him.
“Descent is the keyword for us. The boys are all there,” the host cheered.

When Preta was first quoted, the audience went wild and applauded the singer.
“I’m black, I’m fat, I’m treating cancer, I’m going to win, I’m single, I’m the daughter of the immortal Gilberto Gil… Thank you for your love and affection,” the singer said.
That evening, alongside quotes from Caetano Veloso, Maria Bethânia and the Beatles, Gal Costa and Rita Lee were also honored.
