“Receiving recognition from an important manager of Rai1 can only be a joy, but the definition of my future at Rai in the 2024-2025 season is far from complete.” This is what Massimo Giletti said in a long interview-confession in the weekly Gente, which was available at newsstands from Friday, January 5th. Giletti is referring to the recognition he received from Angelo Mellone, head of daytime entertainment at Rai1.
“I will take a step forward with Rai, a series of interesting events in the next five months,” Giletti added, “but what I will do next is not yet clear and anything is possible because I have more offers .” However, I think that trying to trust Rai at this moment is a sensible action. Any other choice will attract attention. We'll see.” In the long interview with Gente, Giletti also talks about the abrupt closure of his program “Non è l'Arena” on La7, which was decided by Urbano Cairo. “What I experienced was the betrayal of a person I considered a true brother: I don't want to talk about the legal question, I'm going to go into the merits of the human question.” And he added: “I never expected , that the person who hugged me when my father died and whom I suddenly found behind me on the day I buried him, without saying anything to me, without even looking me in the eyes, without me to give even the semblance of motivation, the completion of not just a program, but the completion of a human relationship.”
The reason? “When I dealt with a certain type of subject, a very sensitive one, the freedom disappeared. We are obviously not prepared to open certain drawers. Maybe Cairo couldn’t tell me the truth,” he concludes.
