It’s a plot twist worthy of the TV dramas she stars in.

Actress Gillian Anderson appears to have rekindled her relationship with The Crown creator Peter Morgan.

The couple, who were together for four years until 2020, were pictured holding hands in central London.

Ms Anderson, 54, looked stylish in a black aviator jacket with black trousers and heels, while Morgan, 59, looked casual in trainers, brown trousers and a dark hooded jacket.

The pair never lived together when they began dating, and Ms Anderson once joked: “If we did, that would be the end.”

The split was reportedly amicable, with evidence their extremely demanding work schedules played a role in the relationship ending.

Within weeks of their split, Morgan was dating filmmaker Jemima Khan, but the couple called it quits by February 2021.

The pair reportedly fell out after Morgan failed to portray Princess Diana’s story as “respectfully or compassionately” as Mrs Khan, a friend of the princess, had hoped in The Crown.

Ms Anderson, who played Margaret Thatcher in the fourth season of the Netflix drama, attended the season five premiere at the Theater Royal, Drury Lane last November.

A source at the time said: “She and Peter are good friends again and she was there to support him. It’s not clear if this will lead to a romance, they are a very private couple.

Ms. Anderson, who plays uninhibited sex therapist Jean Milburn on another hit Netflix show, Sex Education, recently wrote to her about her sex life for a book she is working on.

She wrote in the Guardian: “I want women around the world and all of you who now naturally identify as women – queer, straight and bisexual, non-binary, transgender, polyamorous – all of you, old and young, what whatever your religion, and married, single or otherwise, to write to me and tell me what comes to your mind when you think of sex.’
