The page was put online by the management of the hotel where the mother of Marialegenkivska, 7, who was a hit-and-run victim, works.

It is Yuliya Belkina-Novikova, a Ukrainian who also hired the late girl’s mother, who is the instigator of this GoFundMe.

If the goal was $50,000, it was surpassed by a wide margin in less than 24 hours.

The mother fled the war in Ukraine to settle in Montreal with her two children. Her husband had to stay in the country to fight the Russians.

Given the seriousness of the situation, the father may have the right to leave the country to join his family for his little girl’s funeral, Simon Kouklesky, a member of Montreal’s Ukrainian community, tells Mario Dumot.

He also notes the great generosity of Quebecers, including a grocery store that donated groceries to the family.

In an interview with the Journal de Montréal, the grieving mother thanked all the Quebecers who supported her through this difficult ordeal.

“Thank you very much,” Galynalegenkovska explained simply in French.

Touching her heart, she told the Journal to feel the surge of sympathy for her as she set out to finalize the funeral arrangements for her deceased child.
