Giuliana Morrone, 58, was released this Wednesday (5) after 34 years on the Globo ward.
What happened?
The journalist announced on her social networks that she had left the channel in Rio after 34 years as a reporter and presenter.
She joined Globo in 1989 as a special reporter and presenter for newspapers such as Bom Dia Brasil, Jornal Hoje and Jornal Nacional.
Giuliano’s resignation is part of the reformulation and “cost discipline” advocated by Globo. In addition to her, names such as Fábio Turci, César Galvão and Fábio Willian were released from the station.
Like the other leading companies in the market, Globo is constantly committed to the pursuit of efficiency and advancement, but regrets when it says goodbye to professionals who helped write and tell its story. However, this is part of the dynamic of any company.
Globo said in a note.
Morrone posted a farewell message on social media. “For me, life consists of passion. I’ve always had a passion for journalism and for where I’ve worked so far. My other passion and strength is truth. Always,” he wrote.
TV Globo today fired journalists in São Paulo and Brasília, following a series of redundancies in its editorial office in Rio de Janeiro.
In Brasília, Márcia Witczak, editor and presenter of DF1, Lúcia Carneiro of GloboNews, Sávio Ladeira, Marta Cavallini, Olivia Henriques and Dennis Barbosa of portal G1 have also been fired.
Ana Paula Mendes, presenter of InterTV, a Globo affiliate in Cabo Frio (RJ), was released after returning from maternity leave.
The report also noted that the channel’s determination is for senior positions in São Paulo to be sacked. In addition to high salaries, these positions have a different health plan and receive bonuses.
In addition to the cancellation, Globo also blocked vacancies in the Jornal Hoje edition and on the G1 portal in São Paulo. These positions will not be filled due to cutbacks in journalism.
