“Glass Onion” becomes the third most watched Netflix movie with over 209 million hours

In its second week in the top 10, Rian Johnson’s “Glass Onion” became the third most-watched Netflix film in hours in its first 10 days. During 26 Dec-Jan 1 viewing window, the sequel movie “Knives Out” has been viewed for 127 million hours.

After a successful Christmas debut on the streamer with 82.1 million hours watched, the film joins ‘Red Notice’ and ‘Don’t Look Up’ with 209.4 million hours watched. It remains the No. 1 English language film in the top 10 ranking and has now reached No. 10 in the overall list of most popular films.

Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical broke the charts at #2 upon its December 25 release on Streamer. In its first week of streaming, the Alisha Weir film earned 41 million hours of viewership. Like the 1996 original, the 2022 remake follows Matilda, an extraordinary girl whose sharp wit and vivid imagination leads her to fight back against the adult bullies in her life. Lashana Lynch and Emma Thompson also star.

On the TV side, “Wednesday” topped the top 10 rankings for the sixth straight week with 103.96 million viewers, breaking another record for the Jenna Ortega-led series. “Wednesday” also broke the record for most watched hours in a single week on its debut with 341.2 million, and set that record the following week with 411.3 million hours.

Season 3 of “Emily in Paris” came in just below at No. 2. After its December 21 premiere, the series logged 95.3 million viewer hours – a slight decrease from the 117.6 million hour viewers in its opening week, but still one solid performance for the heavyweight dramedy. It’s also worth noting that Seasons 1 and 2 of Emily in Paris reappeared at Nos. 8 and 7 on the list, respectively, with 14.55 million and 15.2 million hours rewatched or experienced by fans for the first time .

Third place went to The Witcher: Blood Origin with 64.5 million viewers in its first full week of availability. Serving as a prequel to the events of The Witcher, the limited series follows seven outcasts in an elf world who band together in a quest for an all-powerful empire. Michelle Yeoh, Sophia Brown and Laurence O’Fuarain star.

The Treason limited series had a strong premiere week. In its first week of availability, the British drama started at number 4 on the list with 56.06 million hours watched. Created by Matt Charman and starring Charlie Cox, the political thriller tells the story of an MI6 MP whose bright future takes a sharp turn after a reunion with a Russian spy forces him to question his entire life.

Directly below is The Recruit with 43.36 million watched hours. At number five on the chart this week, it’s a significant drop from the previous week’s 95.6 million, which pushed it to number two. It still stays ahead of the royal documentary Harry & Meghan. In its fourth week on the top 10 list, the limited series racked up 22.5 million hours of viewership.

Elsewhere on the English-language TV charts were “Sonic Prime” Season 1 (13.4 million) and “Firefly Lane” Season 2 (12.77 million).
