Gloria Hunniford has been hospitalized after a “terrible” fall that broke a bone under her eye.

The 82-year-old TV presenter suffered the accident when she tripped over a rug onto a “very hard wooden floor” earlier this month and revealed the extent of her gruesome leg injuries when she returned to Loose Women on Wednesday.

Gloria told how the horrific accident left her “black and blue” and worried she might have a brain clot, admitting she is now “petrified” to fall again.

Speaking on the ITV show, she said: “This is my first day out [since the fall] and I couldn’t imagine a nicer place. I had a big one [fall] this time. I tripped on a carpet and took the fall all over my face. I took everything on a very hard wooden floor.

“Unfortunately, I broke a bone under my eye. There is a bone under your eye that holds the eye socket, which unfortunately is broken. As long as it doesn’t cause muscle weakness, my eyesight is good.’

Gloria was worried she might have a clot in her brain after her fall, but luckily she didn’t, explaining how she was disoriented in the hospital.

She admitted: “I was worried about a brain clot because a friend of mine had a similar fall. I was very relieved to know that I didn’t. she [the NHS] were fantastic. They made my neck, they did everything they should have done.

Ouch:

Ouch: “There’s a bone under your eye that holds the eye socket, and unfortunately it’s broken. As long as there’s no muscle weakness, I can see fine,’ said Gloria

“I worry the most about the eye. I feel comfortable now that I know the right person [an eye specialist] to leave if something happened.

“I also had my chest X-ray because I had pain in my chest which thankfully is slowly easing.

“I thought it was my sternum but I think it’s just a muscle. My leg looks pretty awful but it’s still all wrapped up in stuff to help it heal.’

Gloria shared a photo of her badly injured leg and said the bruising around her eye was just as bad, but didn’t want to share what she looked like without makeup.

“I thought if I could get a Phantom of the Opera mask to cover up [her face] that would be great,” joked the TV icon.

Before showing the gruesome photo, presenter Jane Moore warned: “For the viewers who see this next picture, it’s graphic,” as the other panelists gasped in horror at the injury.

Gloria praised the paramedics for preventing her from needing skin grafts, saying: “Luckily the ambulance was able to get the skin over or I would have lost a lot of skin.”

She also admitted the fall has made her too anxious to go out into the shops should she suffer another fall, adding: “I’m usually a reasonably confident person. I don’t want to sit and do nothing, that’s why I’m here today, but it hurts your confidence.

“Even in my own garden I know steps very well. I’m afraid of falling again. I didn’t want to go any further [to the Loose Women set] today and make a stupid mistake and fall over.

“I wasn’t able to go to shops. I think I’ll walk down the street now and look for uneven cobblestones and things like that. Falls are bad, this one was bad.’
