GND must make amends

I am 82 years old and have been doing radio for over 60 years, sometimes as a commentator, sometimes as a history journalist. I am no angel and have often been the focus of controversy. But seldom have I been attacked under false premises, as has happened in the last few days.

A week ago, Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois used social media, then in his role in the National Assembly, to accuse me of spreading an incitement to hatred against Québec Solidaire.

The reality is that he quoted me out of context and since then everyone has understood that it wasn’t incitement to hatred and that I wasn’t targeting his political education either.

In fact, during a flight on QUB radio, where I wryly exclaimed that the people of Quebec deserve to be “done” for their historical indolence and bragging rights, Mr. Nadeau-Dubois thought he heard me calling for violence. Well, no… But he who loves well punishes well, and sometimes I get angry with my own people for their apathy.

Had the QA chief gone to the trouble of listening to the excerpt, as elemental rigor demanded, this storm would not have come.

I therefore urge him to make amends and admit that he was wrong from the start in seeking political gains.

hard words

It’s true that sometimes I use harsh words to describe politicians and their parties.

However, as Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois himself acknowledged in the National Assembly on Tuesday, in a democratic society that enjoys freedom of expression, it is normal, even desirable, for politicians to be “criticized” and even “insulted” or “roared at”.

“It’s okay, he said, it’s part of the political and democratic game. »

my people

After more than six decades in the media, I have done good things and also recognize that I have done less glorious things.

One thing is for sure, I always enjoy practicing this profession that allows me to denounce but also to incite the Quebecers, my people that I love so much.
