“Golden Bachelor”: Faith was worried about Gerry. Here’s why
After an emotional rose ceremony and “Women Tell All” episode, Faith tells USA TODAY’s Ralphie Aversa the only concern she had about Gerry.
Oh, those dastardly TV executives who are keeping America waiting for the outcome of Gerry Turner’s torturous rose ceremony last week on ABC’s “The Golden Bachelor.”
In Thursday’s seventh episode, viewers are thrown back to a stunned replay of a grieving Gerry, 72, swearing, hands on his knees and dejected at his dreaded rose decision. Gerry had confessed his love to each of the three remaining contestants during home visits and presented 64-year-old Leslie with a rose before running away.
Nevertheless, “Golden Bachelor” refrains from showing the painful result of the hanging decision between Theresa, 70, and Faith, 61. Instead, the show cleverly segues into “The Women Tell All,” with 14 of the excited contestants gorgeously dressed ready to address a studio audience while Gerry faces them all. Will it be pitchforks or praise? Here’s what happened.
What happened in the wild episode 6? Gerry Turner leaves the rose ceremony after loving visits to his hometown
What happened to Kathy on “Golden Bachelor”? She couldn’t “zip it!”
“Women Tell All” tackles frivolous topics, including a spirited debate over the cause of the intestinal gas disorder that rocked the Bachelor Mansion. The argument over whether it was Edith’s homemade guacamole (Edith vehemently denies this) or Susan’s meatballs is still incredibly contentious.
Host Jesse Palmer then moves on to more serious topics, touching on the feud between Kathy and Theresa that ultimately drove 70-year-old Kathy out of the house in Episode 4. Kathy’s “advice” to Theresa to “go for it!” has gone down in Bachelor Nation history.
Theresa is still in the Gerry game, so she is not present to defend herself. But Kathy is open and thoughtful.
“Could I have been a little more delicate? I could have done that,” says Kathy. “Maybe we both should have closed it.” But there are no hard feelings. “It’s in the past, it was in the moment.”
Aside from that notable flare-up, the Golden Bachelor class did admirably well throughout the season. “We’ve all been through a lot of ups and downs. Life is great, baby,” says Natasha, 60, who went home in Episode 2. “And you need people whose shoulders you can lean on and who have your back.”
Kris Jenner sends her lookalike Susan love videos
Fans have been pointing out all season that Susan resembles Kris Jenner, a compliment that Susan loves. Jenner herself confirms the similarity by sending a video praising the Golden Bachelor season (“literally the best since Trista and Ryan”) and Susan. “You are amazing, I love your style. I love the hair. You nailed it, doll,” she says to Susan, who bursts into tears of joy.
Joan feels there is “unfinished business” with Gerry
Joan, 60, dramatically spoke out after her hasty exit in Episode 3 to support her daughter as she struggled with the effects of a difficult birth. The sudden parting came just after her romantic date with Gerry, who claimed he danced with joy the next morning with budding love in his heart.
“It was so abrupt, like I had unfinished business,” Joan says tearfully of the farewell. “I saw a future with someone.” She expresses her hope for a rekindled romantic future with someone, but insists that she will return to her home in Alexandria, Virginia anyway, believing Gerry could be “waiting on the porch.” .
Ellen thanks Gerry for treating her like a princess
Pickleball star Ellen, 61, went home without Rose in Episode 5 and was still emotional when she met Gerry again for the first time. But it’s all love.
“Thank you for making me feel like a princess,” she says as Gerry breaks down in tears. Ellen also has the confidence to “move on and find love.”
Gerry wisely turns it into a “Golden Bachelor” teaching moment, saying Ellen represented everyone on the show. “As we get older, we realize that we are not invisible; we have meaning and a lot to offer,” he says. “We made history together. We have so much to be proud of.”
Who went home crying on “Golden Bachelor”? Don’t believe anymore
Halfway through the 74-minute episode, we finally find out the long-delayed result. Flashback to Gerry regrouping and giving Theresa the second rose! Faith, looking as dazed as she said she was, walked home from the villa in tears that evening without her rose. Gerry gave Faith a tender debriefing outside and ceremoniously escorted her to the SUV, the ultimate Bachelor farewell tribute.
Reunited on “Women Tell All,” Faith and Gerry hug and scream loudly for a full half minute. It’s a tissue attack. Even 66-year-old Susan wipes tears from her eyes as she watches.
Gerry is most upset about his promise to Faith’s family to protect her heart during his home visit to Benton City, Washington. “And I broke that promise,” he says, looking to the sky. “That’s so horrible.”
Faith forgives Gerry for his dating mistakes on the reality show. “I know your heart is true in every way. You are a beautiful soul. It’s been quite a journey.”
As Palmer ends the moment for a commercial break, Faith and Gerry tearfully embrace one more time. You can barely hear Faith whispering over the applause, “I’ll always love you, Gerry.”
“Oh God,” he replies again through tears.
Which women are left on “The Golden Bachelor”?
In the preview for next week’s Fantasy Suites episode, Gerry smiles (wait for it) and proclaims his love for two women, Leslie and Thersa. Things get heated when the entangled threesome travels to Costa Rica.
“People my age still wear boots,” promises Gerry. He has to enjoy the moment because he only has to choose a partner. And once again things look torturous for the widower. “The only time I felt so bad was when my wife died,” says a heartbroken Gerry. But about who? We will see.
