The 81st Golden Globe Awards began with the comedian Jo Koy as master of ceremonies. As expected, his opening speech focused on making fun of the films nominated for the coveted award, and perhaps it was Oppenheimer and Barbie that came off the worst.

About the film by director Christopher NolanKoy indicated that he had found it long And boredwhile the gala's cameras focused on a Nolan, who didn't seem to enjoy the commentary much.

“I loved Oppenheimer. I only have one complaint: I needed another hour because I felt like I needed more backstory. My New Year's resolution for 2024 is to finish Oppenheimer in 2025. “I love Oppenheimer, especially the first season,” Koy said.

Koy immediately mentioned another of the night's favorite films: Barbie, making the comparison to Oppenheimer and making sure that while it was inspired by an acclaimed book, Barbie was based on “a doll with big breasts.”

The voice actor also reiterated that “the key moment” of the film is far from what the famous doll really represents.

“Barbie's key moment is when she goes from perfect beauty to bad breath, cellulite and flat feet, or what casting directors call 'character actress'.”

“Barbie's key moment is when she goes from perfect beauty to bad breath, cellulite and flat feet, or what casting directors call 'character actors,'” Jo Koy explained, drawing boos from the audience.

Apparently, Koy realized that this comment didn't sit well with many people in the venue and apologized, saying that “not all the jokes were written by him.”

Some (jokes) were written by me, some by others. I got the job ten days ago! Do you want a perfect monologue? Be quiet. You're kidding me, right? I wrote some of them and you are the ones you are laughing at,” Koy said.

It's worth mentioning that Jo Koy wasn't the first choice to host the 81st Golden Globe Awards. Chris Rock, Ali Wong and the trio consisting of Will Arnett, Jason Bateman and Sean Hayeswere some of the personalities who declined the offer to take part in this great event.
