NEW YORK (AP) — Taylor Swift stunned in shimmering acid green by Gucci at the newfangled Golden Globes, Sandra Hülser swept the red carpet in goddess green and Margot Robbie slipped into pink Barbie by Armani Privé at the start of Sunday's awards season.
Colman Domingo honored the man he portrays in “Rustin” – activist Bayard Rustin – in a pin-adorned Nehru tuxedo, while Lily Gladstone, a star of “Killers of the Flower Moon” and red carpet newcomer, wore one white Valentino wore dress with black coat. She wore a Bulgari diamond necklace around her neck and later won a Globe for Best Actress in a Dramatic Motion Picture.
Fashion-forward Timothée Chalamet, the newest “Wonka,” wore an iridescent black jacket, black skinny pants and a low-buttoned black shirt. Its designer: Celine Homme.
Swift's Gucci Sabato De Sarno standout featured three straps at the back. Robbie, the star and producer of the blockbuster and much-nominated film “Barbie,” wore a pink sequin dress with a pink tulle boa. Her look was based on Superstar Barbie from 1977.

“Taylor Swift wearing Gucci was an absolute coup for Sabato De Sarno. With just one season at the legendary house, he’s already dressing one of the world’s most famous pop icons,” said Madeline Hirsch, InStyle news director. “The look felt very Taylor. She loves glitter, but with its bright color and slinky silhouette, it's definitely been one of her more interesting looks lately.”
Huller, the “Anatomy of a Fall” star, chose a Louis Vuitton color somewhere between emerald and sea green in Beverly Hills, California. Her bodice featured thin straps, paired with a skirt of gentle pleats that fell into a train.
Show host Jo Koy, Christian Friedel, Matty Matheson, Daniel Pemberton and Justin Hartley left the lapels of their tuxedos wide open. Colman Domingo went a different route with a custom black look by Louis Vuitton's new men's creative director Pharrell Williams. He accessorized with pearl pins and red jewels, as well as a single pearl earring.

“(Jawaharlal) Nehru was actually, you know, the first prime minister of India, and he was a colleague of Bayard Rustin, who I'm representing as a lead in a film tonight. So it all tells the story. So for me I thought: Oh, Nehru. He represented peace, strength and love,” Domingo told The Associated Press.

As for his earring, he smiled, “Pearl. Why not? Because why not?” The buttons on his jacket were also made of pearls.
Dua Lipa appeared in custom Schiaparelli with a 1962 Tiffany & Co. necklace. Helen Mirren opted for two shades of purple, including a Dolce & Gabbana coat. Julia Schlaepfer, on the other hand, wore a white Old Hollywood dress by Danielle Frankel with a flawless stand-up collar and no back.
CLASSIC CARPET GLAM IN DISPLAY
Jennifer Lopez also went to Old Hollywood in a strapless light pink with huge floral sleeves from Nicole + Felicia Couture. Greta Gerwig, the “Barbie” director, wore custom Fendi couture in black, including long black gloves that matched the sculptural silk duchesse look. Jennifer Aniston also opted for black, her strapless dress with a scalloped skirt. It was Dolce & Gabbana. She rocked her iconic “Rachel” haircut from her “Friends” days.

“It may sound cheesy, but it's really true that Old Hollywood red carpet glamor is making a comeback after the writers' strike,” said Brooke Bobb, fashion news director for Harper's Bazaar.
Gillian Anderson won the evening when it came to motifs. The “Sex Education” star wore an ivory strapless Gabriela Hearst dress embroidered with vaginas.
Why? She told Deadline there are many reasons, the main one: “It's on-brand.”

LOTS OF SHINE AND METALLIC
Quinta Brunson, often a fashion standout, wore a sparkling champagne Balmain dress that fell to the ankles, had a crisscross neckline and subtle sparkles.
“If the Golden Globes are any indication, we are in the midst of a new golden age of Hollywood when it comes to fashion,” Hirsch said. “Everyone from Emma Stone to Quinta Brunson shimmered and glittered in shimmering dresses that caught the light. Even Taylor Swift got in on the action, wearing a very prestigious green sequin dress.”
A bevy of stars made a statement in red: Da'Vine Joy Randolph with a wide peplum at the waist and ruffles at her plunging neckline by Rodarte and Alma Pöysti in a shiny off-the-shoulder dress and full ballgown skirt. Heidi Klum also represented the red crew in a strapless look with a huge, high-slit skirt. Selena Gomez, also in red, wore a fun dress with an asymmetrical hem that started above the knee.
RULE THE COLOR RED
Rachel Brosnahan (Sergio Hudson), Julianne Moore (Bottega Veneta), Florence Pugh (Valentino), Danielle Brooks (Moschino) and Ayo Edebiri (Prada) also wore red. So did some outstanding men, including Barry Keoghan from “Saltburn” at Louis Vuitton and John Krasinski, who paired his shiny red jacket with purple pants.
“I love how every rug and color stands out. We had a lot of yellow and pink, but red is a classic red carpet color,” said Andrea Lavinthal, editorial director of style and beauty at People.
Pugh debuted a brand new mohawk on the carpet.
“She always delivers an interesting hair look, and this evening was no exception. The cool blonde color and '80s rock star styling were punk perfection and combined with her sheer Valentino dress, all eyes were on her that evening,” said Hirsch.
Others sparkled in silver, including Julia Garner in a daring look with bold embellishments and cut-out sides from Gucci. Issa Rae chose metallic orange from Pamella Roland's Spring/Summer 2024 collection. It had a geometric tile pattern with sequins.
For the film adaptation of the musical “The Color Purple,” Oprah continued her purple streak in a figure-hugging, long-sleeved dress. The look has been embroidered with a geometric motif and draped neckline. It was custom-made by Louis Vuitton. Natalie Portman wore a garden of sequins by Dior Couture.
Let's hear it for the boys
The men mostly wore solid clothing. Not Chris Perfetti. He was shirtless, wearing bold pinstripes and a huge black rose on his lapel. Tyler James Williams (in Dolce & Gabbana) went the same route, except his flower was cream. Jeffrey Wright opted for a traditional black tuxedo. Lenny Kravitz rocked a black Alexander McQueen baggy jumpsuit with side cutouts.
“Barry Keoghan and Jonathan Bailey have some of the most interesting suits of the evening,” said Trishna Rikhy, associate style commerce editor at Esquire. “Keoghan's with contrasting prints in the same shade of red on his blazer and trousers, and Bailey's with a clean, all-white look tailored to a t-shirt. These bright, monochromatic looks are also refreshing after Hollywood’s long history of all-black monochrome.”
There were some curious looks, including Meryl Streep in a flowing black skirt and jacket with a white pussy-bow blouse and Natasha Lyon in a white dress with a lacy bodice that hung well past her neck.
Billie Eilish, her hair bright red and black, walked to school in a white blouse, brown skirt and oversized black jacket with her glasses on. Her look is by Willy Chavarria.
Jodie Foster took a cue from the same school style, except this one was dressed for a party, with a high sequined collar and a belt at the waist over a voluminous pleated skirt. The designer: Alberta Ferretti.
