Jay’s manager John Schneider told Sportsnet on Monday, adding that his charge made progress during his recovery over the weekend. Guerrero Jr. continues to recover from a sore right knee that forced him out of the March 3 exhibition game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

“He said he felt great, which is great,” Schneider said. Hopefully he gets a lot of trail running this year; he must therefore continue his preparation. You’ll probably see him in action over the next few days, assuming he’s feeling good after his workout today.

The 23-year-old wants to look his best when the Jays visit the St. Louis Cardinals on March 30 to open the campaign. “I will take everything calmly and not rush things,” he promised two days after his fall in the fight. I will continue to follow treatments and when my knee says it’s ready I will be.”

In 160 games last year, the slugger hit a total of 32 home runs and 97 RBIs.
