“Good Omens” has officially been renewed for a third and final season.
On Thursday, it was announced that the fantasy comedy, which began as a limited series, will begin production on its final season, which will be released on Amazon Prime Video.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, production on the show will begin soon in Scotland at BBC Studios.
In a statement from the author of the novel of the same name, Neil Gaiman expressed his excitement to complete the story he and his late co-author Terry Pratchett brought to life – the series starring David Tennant and Michael Sheen .
“I'm so happy to finally be able to finish the story that Terry and I planned in 1989 and 2006,” he began as he announced the news, which was previously just a rumor because of the big name after the first had announced his exit after two seasons, suggesting a sequel.

“Terry felt strongly that if we made Good Omens for television, we could see the story through to the end,” Gaiman continued.
He then recapitulated the debut and second seasons before hinting at the final season's plot.
“The first season was about averting Armageddon, dangerous prophecies and the end of the world,” he wrote.
“Season two was sweet and gentle, although it may have ended less joyfully than a certain angel and demon would have hoped.
“Now, in the third season, we will deal with the end of the world again.” The plans for Armageddon go awry.

Gaiman will continue to serve as showrunner, executive producer and writer.
However, many fans are “heartbroken” that Douglas Mackinnon – who served as executive producer, director and co-showrunner alongside Gaiman for the first two seasons – will be leaving the show.

The debut season, intended as a limited series, premiered in May 2019. A second season was renewed in June 2021 and released in July 2023. A release date for the third and final season has not yet been announced
