Google Pixel 8 Pro and Tensor G3 appear on Geekbench

Google Pixel 8 Pro and Tensor G3 appear on Geekbench with disappointing CPU scores ahead of launch – notebookcheck.biz

Google will launch Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel Watch 2 on October 4th. Both smartphones will launch as the company’s latest premium offerings and will feature the third-generation Tensor chipset. Unfortunately, it looks like the Tensor G3 will continue to perform disappointingly in light of new leaked benchmarks.

Ahead of the Pixel 8 series launch event, the flagship device Pixel 8 Pro has now been spotted on Geekbench and shows numbers that lag behind those of the competition. The leaked image confirms that the device was tested on Geekbench 6.2 and returned a single-core score of 1,760 and a multi-core score of 4,442. That’s not great, but it’s still way behind its competitors.

For example, according to our database, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 achieved an average score of 1,976 in the same test. In the multi-core test, Qualcomm’s current flagship chipset delivers an average score of 5,149. In fact, it seems that the Pixel 8 Pro and its Tensor G3 are only narrowly outperforming this year’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 recently. This is definitely in line with Google’s previous Tensor chipsets. That said, it delivers last-gen performance… However, for what it’s worth, the Pixel 8 Pro appears to offer about a 20 percent improvement in CPU performance over the Pixel 7 Pro, and that’s most importantly what matters to fans of the series.
