Goose Island Beer 312 Day event closed by Chicago City Hall

The City closed Goose Island Beer’s planned “312 Day” celebration after it emerged the company had failed to apply for the appropriate permits.

The event was scheduled to take place Saturday at a former auto repair shop in the 1800 block of West Fulton Street and is expected to be attended by more than 1,000 people, according to a written statement from Chicago’s Department of Business and Consumer Affairs. buildings and the Chicago Police Department.

After investigating the building on Friday night, the Business and Consumer Affairs Agency issued violations for improper “public entertainment venue” and liquor licensing.

The Department of Buildings found “dangerous and dangerous conditions”, including “insufficient exit capacity for large crowds”, and issued a complete closure order.

The 312 Day event was canceled and Goose Island officials were instructed to warn ticket holders.

Goose Island Beer president Todd Asmann said the 312 Day events will take place elsewhere.

“We take the issues raised by the city seriously. For the safety of our guests, performers, and staff, the Mick Jenkins show is currently taking place at The Bottom Lounge, located at 1375 W. Lake St. Doors open at 19:00. All responses to invitations to speak with Mick Jenkins will be taken into account,” Asmann said.
