The leading Republican, who is up against squad member Ilhan Omar in November, says the far-left lawmaker is primarily interested in “celebrity activism” and claims her actions are a “wrecking ball for progress.”
Cicely Davis said in an interview with that Omar was an “insult” to the Minnesotans she represents in the 5th congressional district – and particularly to those within the Somali-American community.
“I think Ilhan Omar has been remarkably ineffective in her role as the congresswoman representing this district,” Davis said.
“It was absolutely manifested on video and seen around the world,” she added, referring to the incident earlier this month when a full stadium booed Omar’s performance at a Somali music festival, telling her to “f**k the * get out”.
She also said that most of Omar’s actions are just “activist theatre” and a way for her to “elevate her celebrity status”.
The progressive Somali-American lawmaker was arrested Tuesday in the Supreme Court along with his colleague and New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The two were part of a group of Democratic lawmakers who opposed the overthrow of Roe v. Wade protested.
Both lawmakers were seen walking away with police with their hands behind their backs as if they were handcuffed, although neither had their wrists cuffed.
Cicely Davis – the GOP woman who takes on Ilhan Omar in Minnesota – says the squad member is only interested in boosting her fame and getting involved in “celebrity activism” and is in touch with the desires of the people in Minnesota’s 5th congressional district lost

Davis says Omar “insults” Minnesota voters — and Somali Americans in particular, after comparing the violence in Minneapolis to that at a Somali refugee camp where she was as a child. “Ilhan Omar, who rallied last Sunday against the official ruling at the Minnesota State Capitol in her brazen embrace of Supreme Court political theater — it’s clear she’s more interested in fact-free, celebrity activism than actually doing her job and writing legislation that can pass Congress,” Davis told on Tuesday in a follow-up to last week’s broad-based interview.
She added that Omar is more interested in opposing the abortion ruling and former President Donald Trump than her own record or real issues like public safety and the economy.
Davis said that the taunts of voters at Target Center over Independence Day weekend were also partly voter denunciation of the congressmen, but also a reaction from the community after comparing Minneapolis to a Somali refugee camp where she and her family are staying settled after fleeing war in the 1990s and before coming to America.

“Imagine how offensive that sounds to those who fled there and to understand that’s exactly what they left behind,” Davis said. “That was an insult to her… She just can’t take her values.”
“It’s something I’ve heard from them,” Davis added of voters’ dissatisfaction with who represents them in DC. “And again, it was nice to get it out of her mouth and see it on video. And so that was just confirmation and manifestation.’
“You know, if you have a Target Center full of their community members and they’re booing — that’s their people, that’s their culture,” Davis told in a phone interview.
“And a booming boo, booming boo, for minutes, gives you a hint that she’s unconnected, that she’s utterly unmusical. And the fact that they are willing to so openly express their disgust for her gives you an indication of how Congressional District 5 is feeling, what we are experiencing, and what their leadership reflects.’

“Get the f*** out,” Omar can be heard yelling at a member of the crowd in a now-viral video of the concert. Davis says the clip is a “confirmation and manifestation” of the video of Minnesota’s dissatisfaction with Omar
Davis also claimed Minneapolis voters weren’t happy with Omar’s push to defund police, saying the area has always had a big independent voter surge that she hopes will defeat lawmakers in November.
The Minnesotans here forgot she led the prosecution to defund the police,” Davis said in an interview with last week. “Fortunately that was on the ballot box.”
“She should present and understand the risk this poses specifically to her safety. Rising crime rates cannot be papered over with fancy political slogans,” Davis added. “And so, you know, the bottom line is that Ilhan Omar is just plain ineffective.”
“This is about activist theatre, it’s about gas lighting. She doesn’t offer any real opportunity to create change, so she’s more concerned with elevating her celebrity status than actually putting in place policies to create change.”
To run against Omar, however, Davis must first win the GOP primary on Aug. 9 against two other candidates. The competition is virtually none for Davis, however, as she emerged as the most likely candidate to advance to the general election later this year.
“Ilhan Omar is a complete wrecking ball for all voters here and my point is to just step in and stand up and hold them accountable,” Davis said.
