Gospel singer Sérgio Lopes, who was hospitalized after suffering a stroke, should be discharged in the next few days, the hospital says

the gospel singer Sergio Lopes, who suffered an ischemic stroke last Monday (27) and was hospitalized, is due to be discharged in the coming days, according to a statement published by the Paulo Niemeyer State Brain Institute (IEC). According to the health department, his health is stable.

“The patient has undergone imaging studies and continues to receive support from the multidisciplinary team on duty. The prognosis is that the patient will be discharged in the next few days,” read an excerpt from the note.

According to the singer’s wife, he has a speech disorder and has lost movement in his right arm and leg.

Sérgio Lopes is 59 years old and comes from Campina Grande in Paraíba. He got involved with art in his youth when he got involved in theater and started composing.

Always devoted to Christian music, he moved to Rio de Janeiro in 1982 to pursue a military career. He remained in the Marine Corps for 15 years. He also has a law degree.

There are messages on Sérgio’s social media from President Jair Bolsonaro and supporters wishing the singer well.

This month he announced a precandidate for the federal executive board and said he wants to defend the church and Christian values.
