Less ambitious options, such as an 8-kilometer rapid bus service (SRB) between the Angrignon subway and 32nd Avenue in Lachine, are also on the table.

These scenarios were published on Monday by the Regional Metropolitan Transport Authority (ARTM), which is these days starting consultations on its “great southwest project”, an implementation of the western end of the famous “Rose of Lines” promised by Valérie. Planned in 2017.

“ARTM and its partners are studying six route scenarios and structuring transport modes to meet the needs of the population,” said Patrick Charpentier, who leads the project within the organization. The ARTM wants “the right mode in the right place”.

Five of the six scenarios relate to a new tram or SRB line. The other scenario recommends an extension of the Green Line west of Angrignon station. In all cases, these lines would serve a “common section” located between the Angrignon subway station and 32nd Avenue in Lachine.

Two of the scenarios continue towards the city center: one to the Lionel-Groux subway, the other to the Square-Victoria subway. Three of the scenarios extend west to reach Dorval Station.

The population of these sectors of Montreal will be asked to vote on their favorite scenario via a virtual platform. Public information sessions are also planned in Verdun, LaSalle, Dorval and Lachine this week and next.

That consultation was scheduled to take place last fall, but was suspended at Quebec's request.
